TAKLUNG TSETRUL RINPOCHE
His Holiness Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche is the holder of the Jang-Ter (Northern Treasures Lineage) and the supreme abbot of Dorje Drak (Vajra Rock) Monastery, one of the six great seats or mother monasteries of the Nyingma Lineage. Born in 1926, His Holiness was recognized as the reincarnation of the great master of Taklung Tse monastery, and began his training at five years of age. After escaping from Tibet in 1959, His Holiness founded a new Dorje Drak monastic seat in India to preserve and foster and expand the teachings of the Jang-Ter Lineage. His Holiness has been the source of the Jang-Ter Lineage to many great masters, including His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche and His Holiness Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche. He is a holder of all the great Kama and Terma traditions of the Nyingma, and is also one of the few foremost holders of the Nyingma Monastic tradition, along with His Holiness Trulshik Rinpoche. His Holiness Dodrupchen Rinpoche relies on His Holiness Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche to bestow the Bikshu ordination for all of his monks at Dodrupchen Chorten Gonpa in Sikkim.
